Hey, remember when I said this was going to be a weekly thing? yeah….
I probably ought to feel more guilty, but I’ve been too busy to do this 5 minute update vlog. But I recently learned about the term “Time Confetti,” so we’ll see if that helps. If you’re ever curious about what I’m up to, please leave a comment on one of these posts, which you can read on my Blog as well as on my DeviantArt or my Patreon. Not only does it remind me to update people, but it lets me know people are thinking about what I’m working on, and that feels cool.
RPG Day went well. 6 of our 10 tables fired, which included two of mine, Pendragon and GI Joe/Transformers. I have some data science to do on the sign-up sheets to help me in the future know how people attend the event. I’m already roughly planning for a September RPG Day.
Speaking of RPGs, I had mentioned a Western Marches campaign idea. I’m now 5 sessions in with 2 different groups, neither of which are my family, which I had originally designed the campaign for. Bit weird, but still within expected margins. I’ve been writing some blog posts for the Magpie Arcanum, my Open Secret Society which I dream of making into a hub for intelligent thoughts about RPGs. As I find flaws with my campaign, I write about it there, and figure out a better set of rules.
Speaking of better set of rules, I learned the new D&D starterset is going to be $50, which I’m fine paying, but I’m not fine trying to sell to the people who most need a starter set. I’m considering writing my own Starter Set. We’ll see how that goes, I guess.
A friend and I are also starting to circle the idea of writing/drawing/making a comic zine. Writing a story in 2-3 pages is not my forte, but I think this is the next big direction for my craft.
And finally, speaking of big directions, I had some epiphany thoughts on the relationship between Player-as-character the interference that makes such experiences difficult. I call the basics of my idea “Cognitive Fluency” and I’m starting to do research on how to write modern philosophy. I’ve not sat down to actually write about the concept yet, and I need to soon, before the lightning slips away. There will always be more lightning, but I really enjoyed this flavor.
That’s basically what I’ve been up to the last 5 weeks. I’ll try to not leave you in the dark in the future.
